Meet Calypso Hippo and his food truck team! Calypso is a laid-back, on permanent vacation kind of hippo. He loves good food and always knows the spot to find it – on the Hungry Hippo Food Truck! The chef behind Calypso and his colorful, fun vibe is Johny Walker. Johny is Haitian by way of New York and has perfected family recipes from his Mom’s side of the family. Johny loves to cook and loves to see people enjoying his craft. His fan favorite is Haitian Jerk BBQ but he smokes a mean Boston butt and has perfected a Vegetarian BBQ Jack fruit. After years of cooking for friends he was encouraged to enter a backyard chicken contest in Gainesville, Georgia. He won first place and from there his dream of owning a food truck started.
ABOUT OUR COMPANY
With his wife by his side, the Hungry Hippo Eats Food Truck became a reality. Kerri, his wife is an Atlanta native and adds that perfect southern flair to the menu. Her mac&cheese will rival your grandma’s and don’t get us started on the Pineapple Mango Lemonade! Their love for each other and their combined entrepreneurial spirit has made for a pretty fun journey. You can sometimes spot the younger hippos – I mean kiddos helping out, running the register or making drinks. It is definitely a family affair backed with lots of advice and support from friends, love, fun, and great food.
